While I Was Away...

This past weekend Aiden and I took off with Nana up to the North Woods to be with my Aunt as she embarked on a new chapter in her life. She is moving to upstate New York to live closer to her daughter, Debbie. In order to do so, she had to down size her household belongings considerably, this included the sale of her home for the past 23 years. They held an auction on Sunday to eliminate all unwanted belongings and sell the house.
It was a bit sad to watch her let go of everything she had accumulated over these past decades, but I was also very excited for her. She has a chance to start over in a new town, and while this might be scary at first, I think she will love being so close to her daughter and grandchildren. I love the thought of meeting new people and having new experiences, I just hope she enjoys it too.
So, while I was gone, the Farmer and Sarah were back home here having a ball! They called the Flip Flopping Momma and her hubby and went bowling (Sarah’s first bowling experience and I missed it!); they went out to eat (twice! Even though I left a fridge full of leftovers for them.), and helped Grandma and Grandpa paint their newly remolded garage. When I am home on the weekends, I am lucky to even see the Farmer. Anyway, no hard feelings…Even if he did tell the Flip Flopping Family that he was the “Fun Half” of the family…huh..I will have to remember that.
Oh yeah – and while I was up north, I purchased a 37’ fifth wheel RV! That will teach the Farmer to come with next time!

Tag A Long

Aiden and I with the Moby Sling. I am tellin' ya - I love this thing! Don't get me wrong, I love the other slings that I have too, but each has it's place. This one is wonderful for house cleaning and cleaning horse stalls. It keeps baby nice and close, unlike other slings that allow baby to swing away from your body, so I am able to do a lot of bending over to pick things up. (A constant movement in my daily life.)
I have to thank Aunt B for this one. She shipped it out to me a while ago, otherwise I would have never know it existed! Aiden loves it too, especially now that he is bigger and can sit facing outwards. Just look at those adorable cheeks!

Daddy and Aiden

This is a picture of the Farmer and the mini-farmer watching the Cubs at our friend's house. Check out those rolls! I think we may have a case of baby Man-boobs here...

Book Club

The book club finally met! Yea! I can now change my "What are you reading" section of this blog! Yippee! Ok - that is enough of the !!!
Yes, it is true, our book club had it's first official meeting. I was thrilled to host this fun filled event. We ate desserts and cheese and drank yummy wine (ok, I had a wine glass full of milk - I am still recovering from last weekends shannanigans, uhg.)
We discussed The Other Boleyn Girl in depth. Contemplated the author's motives and direction, made assumptions on what each of us would do in the same situations, and put the topic to modern day terms. Then we got on to juicer subjects - like our husbands, our pasts and a certain almond shaped object that I do not wish to mention here.
It was a blast! I am so excited to have such a great group together! We are all very diverse, yet can truly relate to one another on every level. They are a wonderful group of interesting, humorous, an adventuresome women. I cannot wait until our next meeting! We will be reading "The Heretic's Daughter" and having a bonfire to celebrate. I am sure there will be more wine too. And a certain library bag full of beer...

A Day in the Life

Holding the screaming baby... I look a little frazzeled - don't you think?
Cupcakes - still no frosting
Applesauce

Nope, no frosting on the cake yet either

So, I had a day. On Friday of last week I was to be getting ready for Aiden’s Christening and Open House, and, of course, nothing was going as planned. From about noon on Aiden suddenly became inconsolable in his crying and I still had a cake to bake, cupcakes to make and BBQ to throw together so that on Saturday we could go for a day trip with Matthew’s visiting Brother, Tim, and his wife, B. And if I did not have enough to do – I decided I finally needed to do something with our quickly ripening apples in the orchard, so I added applesauce to my list.
By 4 o’clock I had had it, by 5, I was miserable and by 6, I was in tears. Aiden had been screaming for 6 hours straight now. Without a break. I could only assume that the sobbing was a result of the four teeth that have begun to make an appearance on his tiny little gums. He had been changed, bathed, medicated, and rocked. I offered for him to nurse several times, each time I was reciprocated with an even louder holler. I was at a loss.
Thank God for good friends, that is all I can say. I called my dear friend, the flip flopping Momma, and she rushed right over, miracle in hand. Her husband took the screaming baby from my arms and turned him to face his wife. She then proceeded to drop three little magic pills into his mouth. Before the tiny white substance could even finish dissolving, Aiden was quiet. Not only quiet, but I believe he was falling in love with my friend! He looked at her with such a look of pleasure that I could not contain my laughter. Teething Tablets – that is what these little pills are called. Of course, around our house they are more commonly known as baby crack.
All I can say is; I love my friends. Where would I be without them? I am one lucky gal!

Among Friends

The girls at my house. Too much food, too much wine.

Ya know, I am usually not surprised by what my friends will bring up in a

conversation. Most of my friends will discuss just about anything, no matter how vulgar. But recently, I have been taken aback, and I love it! A new circle of friends brings many new surprises, and hanging out with these girls always keeps me laughing. Just remember, it is always the quiet ones you have to watch out for - isn't that right, Esther?
