Riding Camp

Sarah attended her first riding camp this summer.
I was sure to deck her out in new breeches and tall boots just for the occasion...(Ok - they are her muck boots, but they did the job...)

She had a wonderful time all week - they made some really cute crafts, had water fights, painted a horse, rode, cleaned stalls, groomed and probably a thousand more things that she is not here to remind me about!

Having camp all week also inspired her to work with her own pony, Izzy.

And I have to say, she has come a long way! Of course, I have to learn to back off on the help and let her do it herself...That is hard to do...

On Friday of last week we had twenty-five new additions to our farm arrive. These adorable little creatures were received at our local Post Office at 7 a.m. on Friday morning, I know this because as soon as they come in, the Post Office is on the phone to us to let us know that we need to get on the ball and get up there and get them right away. I don't know if it is the incessant chirping that annoys the Postmaster, or the slightly musty odor of a small box that has been stuffed with baby chicks for three days... And you wonder what your mail goes through when it leaves you, and why it looks the way it does when you get it...
Anyway - they are here now, and doing well! Sarah has been in charge of their care and she is sure to hold each one each day...How she knows the difference between twenty-five chickens is beyond me, but, OK. They have taken refuge in her kiddy pool for the time being and will be introduced to the chicken coop before long.

Little Climber

OK- so everyone knows that this whole "Boy" thing is throwing me for a loop, but I have decided to go with it (like I have a choice here? Eat or be eaten.). Aiden wants to climb, let's let him climb. I have positioned climbing devices all over the house to try and give him safe places to satisfy this burning desire to reach new heights, and, for the most part, it has been working. Somehow he still manages to climb on top of his big sister's drawing table or attempt to stand on an end table in the livingroom if your back is turned, but we are working on funneling his climbing to more appropriate items.
