The Camper

So, as I briefly mentioned in one of my previous entries, I finally went ahead and bought a camper. We have been talking about it for some time now and I had finally gotten to the point where one of us had to do something or we would never do anything. I went on a trip up north, as I said and bought it at my Aunt's auction a couple weeks ago. OK - so maybe it is not this beauty you see below....
But it is also not THIS bad either....

It is a nice, moderately sized fifth wheel by Holiday Rambler. Shown (kinda) below being scrubbed up for use by the Farmer and his Sidekick.
Now, I thought this would be a piece of cake, right? We have several trucks on the farm that have what I assumed was a universal fifth wheel hitch and we could just buzz six hours up north and pick up this bad boy..hummm, I should know better...
Well, apparently the hitch that we have in our trucks is called a "Ball Hitch" and we needed a "Pin Hitch", so the Farmer went online and found a lovely converter kit. Piece of cake. Not so fast, Missy. The convert is not going to work here - we had better get a new hitch installed in the Farmer's truck. And while you are at it, throw in a new brake kit, and some new brakes, and you better update those shocks, and what about the tires. Uh-oh, wrong hitch kit came. Take is back to the store (hour away) and pick up a new one at another store (hour away again). OK, now the Farmer must install said hitch - stay up until midnight Thursday night installing hitch and shocks.
Whew - he makes me tired just writing about the things he does! So many days and hours of work later, he ventures up north at 5 a.m. on Saturday to pick up the camper. Thankfully all went well on his trip and he made good time and returned home safely. Needless to say, we went to the Kempel's for his celebratory beer when he returned at 7 p.m. that night.
So now we are officially campers! We have parked it at our local KOA for the week to get a little use out of it before the boys hit the field, and we love it so far. Although, it is a lot of work (for the Farmer).

More Cheer Camp Photos

Night with Friends

The Farmer, Aiden, Jake, and Jason hang out by the fire. For some reason, they did not care for the flash on my camera...The Kempels.
Abby in all her pregnant glory. I think she glows.

We hung out at the Kempel house last weekend and were able to visit with Jake, Abby and Jack, who we have not seen since we were up North this past July. Abby is expecting a baby in January - and she looks GREAT! Their little one, Jack, is a busy little boy, but I think a new baby will give him something to keep him entertained.

We had a great time making smores and catching up by the fire.

Flea Markets

Recently the Flip Flopping Momma and her Momma and I hit a local Flea Market. OH the Joy of shopping! We had a great time, even though it was hotter then heck! The baby slept and Sarah was with Daddy - life was good.

Mama's Little Helper

Aiden and I often cook together. He gets mesmerized by the activity on the stove. Here he is even helping lubricate the mixing spoon for me. Just kidding - I did not use that one!

Fall Treats

Sarah and I made caramel apples to give to all her friends that attended her Birthday Party this year. We made sure to drizzle chocolate over the apples too, for a truly decadent dessert! Oh yea, it is a little messy too, parents -good luck with that.
